Horton

"I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful one-hundred percent." Reading his books in his bed. I could not be more grateful for Dr. Seuss. He is helping my boy to catch up on reading. He has fallen behind his class in reading, and managed to lose his confidence along the way. It's a lot harder to learn to read when you can't hear all of the sound and when you mix them up now and then. This is his struggle for now, but he is not alone as he works through it. His support system is broad, and we will not allow him to remain behind. He has many helping hands to push and sometimes drag him forward, but those same hands wrap him up and console him along the way. It breaks my heart to see defeat consume him, but we will not let him give up on himself. He is gradually learning that he can do hard things. He is learning that reaching goals takes a lot of hard work, and he is learning how rewarding it can be to conquer a mountain that seems unconquerable. This road has been long and hard for him, and he has many miles ahead. We'll just keep putting one foot in front of the other and learn what we can as we go. Thank goodness that he has Horton and Sam I Am to keep him company. They sure make this journey a lot more fun.
